Helping Our Friends |
There are many things that you can do to help your animal friends with special needs - especially
if they have mobility problems. Here are some suggestions that will make your animals’ lives much easier.
Make sure that everything your animal friend needs is easily accessible.
Keep the water bowl right beside your animal companion. This way your best friend will
not have to get up unnecessarily when s/he is thirsty. Do the same when you are feeding your animal friend. I always
bring Hera’s dinner to her. This way
it saves her from getting up so she feels better and has more energy later on.
Ramps are a wonderful thing for your friends. They can be used to help your animal companions
to get on or off
of furniture, up or down small stairs or even to get in or out of a car. The important thing is to make sure that
the ramp is not too steep or slippery and is very secure.
You can also keep your friend warm with a wonderful coat. When purchasing a coat, make
sure that it goes all the way to the base of the tail so that the kidneys are kept warm. Many coats you buy these
days look nice, but are not too practical.
It is helpful to put non-slip rugs on slippery surfaces to
protect your animal companion from unnecessary anxiety and from falling and hurting him/herself.
It might also be helpful
to give your animal companion the opportunity to go outside to
the “bathroom” more
often.
There are many other things that we can do for our animal friends to help them make their lives easier and happier.
The suggestions above are only a starting point.
