I would like to introduce you to some real-life heroes --- heroes, who risk their lives without thinking of the consequences to themselves --- heroes who are there for another being without giving thought to race, colour or, in many cases, species. These heroes aren't looking for media attention, or any other kind of reward. They see the need to assist another, and are there to help --- oftentimes risking their own lives in the process.
The animals who are featured on this page are not the fictitious heroes we often look up to. In fact, we might never give these real-life heroes a second glance because they are the ones we have prejudged as "just animals." We must remember that heroes can wear many different coats.
The following stories are a profound representation of my message that animals are living breathing souls who have feelings and emotions and can think. Please share these "heroic" stories with as many people as you can so that others may come to know these animals as the heroes they truly are.
I would like you to take a moment to think of these wonderful beings and, if you choose, to send them your love, gratitude and appreciation. They have made this world a better place.

Real life Heroes
Dog Rescues Injured Dog from Freeway Santiago, Chile
The video below shows footage of a dog being hit by a car on a busy highway.
The images were caught on tape by a traffic camera. Not one person slows down their car ... not one person stops to help. All the injured dog can do is lie there in pain, fearing for his life. Out of nowhere, another dog spots him. Without any thought for his own life, the second dog makes his way through the heavy traffic to the injured dog. Using only his front paws, he gently moves the severely injured dog inch by inch across the busy highway and onto the side of the highway.
Finally, road workers spot the dog and go over to help. Unfortunately, the injured dog succumbs to his injuries despite reports of survival ... and the hero, after risking his own life, disappears from where he came.
This truly remarkable expression of love and caring reflects a respect for life that at times, goes beyond our own.
