There are many different healing methods, but in any case, it is important to consider the body as a whole and strive to gain a balance between the physical, emotional and spiritual states. It is always wonderful if allopathic and alternative medicine can work together. Here are a few different modalities that might be beneficial in supporting the physical and emotional well-being of our animal companions.

Homeopathy
The word homeopathy comes from the Greek words homeo, meaning similar, and pathos, meaning suffering or dis-ease. Homeopathy was discovered over 200 years ago by the German doctor Samuel Hahnemann, and has been practiced ever since.
Homeopathy assesses the whole patient, mentally, emotionally and physically, and offers remedies which stimulate the body's own healing powers.
Homeopathy uses the "like cure like" principle, that is to say that an ill patient, human or animal, can be treated using a substance that can
produce, in a healthy patient, symptoms similar to those of the illness. Remedies are taken in an extremely diluted form and are often indistinguishable from the pure water, sugar or alcohol they are given in. Treatments are selected in accordance with a patient's constitution and are very effective in treating all physical and emotional health issues.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in China and encompasses several procedures which stimulate anatomical points on the body. The most common technique
involves needles manipulated by hand or by electrical stimulation to penetrate the skin.
Acupuncture strives to maintain a balanced body and states that dis-ease is due to an internal imbalance of yin and yang which leads to blockages
in the flow of qii or vital energy along meridians or pathways. Acupuncture helps to remove the blockages and get vital energy flowing again.
Massage Therapy
Massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissue of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress. It improves the function of the circulatory, muscular, skeletal, lymphatic and nervous system, and promotes health and wellness.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic focuses upon the function of the body's neuromusculoskeletal system. Since the spine is the key highway for the central nervous system, a chiropractor is trained to use a variety of diagnostic methods to examine and treat the spine and bone structure.
There are many other healing modalities. These are just a few examples.
